AC Milan’s Chief Executive Officer Ivan Gazidis has once again reiterated the importance of the new stadium project for both the clubs and the city itself.
Last month Milan and Inter held an official event in which Italian firm Manica and American giants Populous showed their designs for a proposed ‘new San Siro’ stadium, seemingly demonstrating their desire to go full steam ahead with the idea.
The road though has been described as ‘uphill’ due to the various levels of approval needed, especially when it was revealed that only two council members voted in favour of the project in a recent vote.
Gazidis – speaking to the ‘Nuovo Stadio Milano’ Twitter account – had his say on the plans.
“Modern stadiums will be the foundation of the future of football. I love San Siro, but it is not equipped for our needs. It is a project that will serve to bring Milan back to the world football elite.”
