GdS: Ibrahimovic back from start and aiming for Costacurta’s Serie A record

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to make his first start in over a year this evening as AC Milan will take on Udinese away from home. And given his age, he’s also aiming to beat a certain record.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport this morning, Ibrahimovic is looking to get back on target and thus break Milan legend Billy Costacurta’s record in Serie A. At 41 years and 25 days, he’s the oldest goalscorer in league history.

Ibrahimovic is 41 years, five months and 15 days, meaning he would beat the record by a decent margin. And if it counts for anything, Costacurta set that record with a goal against Udinese; Milan’s opponent tonight.

The Swede is eager to play and the recovery from his knee surgery has gone really well. It’s just a shame that he wasn’t included on the Champions League list, as the report concludes, seeing as he would have been of use for Milan.
