GdS: Over 70k attended Milan’s clash vs. Udinese – a first since 2009

AC Milan claimed their first three points of the season last night in front of a big crowd at San Siro. The fans got to celebrate four goals in the win against Udinese and it was indeed a fantastic turnout for the game.

The enthusiasm has been very high ever since the second half of last season, something not even the mercato could affect. Of course, the signing of Charles De Ketelaere helped calm many fans but there is still a lot of belief regardless.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), there was a total of 70.197 fans present at San Siro yesterday to watch the game. It was close to sold out, in other words, as the stadium can host around 75k.

Given the heat and the fact this season started on August 13, it’s an impressive figure and Milan have not had this many to watch an opening game (at San Siro) since 2009. Back then, it was the derby in the second round that brought numbers.
