GdS: 90% Giroud shows his importance to Milan – co-existence with Ibra seen for the first time

AC Milan fans saw another glimpse of how important Olivier Giroud could be for the team this season during the win over Hellas Verona.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Giroud worked hard to relieve back pain over the international break to try and find his best shape after Covid. He is feeling better, and the 35-year-old returned to the pitch yesterday, scoring the goal to make it 2-1 and spark the Rossoneri’s comeback against Hellas Verona.

Giroud spoke about his condition after the game and confirmed that he is not yet at his best condition, but is certainly getting there: “I’m fine, my back is better. almost 100%, let’s say at 90, I have waited a long time for this moment and now I just want to make a good impression and help the team win.”

Last night against Verona, Stefano Pioli was able to field Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic together for the first time. It only lasted for a few minutes in the end but the goal to make it 3-2 was born from a combination of them. After the game, Giroud spoke about the Swede: “Ibra is a great striker. I hope to play many more times with him.”
