GdS: AC Milan approach former Inter boss Mancini

By Claudio Perfetto -

La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Milan directors, Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli, have approached Roberto Mancini regarding the managerial position at AC Milan.

The report states the Mancini is not enjoying his experience in Russia with Zenit St. Petersburg, which reportedly pays him 8 million euros per year and ends in 2020. The team is currently 8 points behind first place in the standings, which is making Mancini’s time there difficult.

Fassone and Mirabelli have a good relationship with the ex-Inter manager from their experience with the nerazzurri. Vincenzo Montella was fired and although they stated that Gennaro Gattuso would not just be a navigator to get through tough waters, it seems the waters are rougher than initially thought and they are looking for long term replacements. Mancini is a hot candidate in Europe and in China due to his success in Italy and in the Premier League.

With the  money spent in the summer on eleven new players, the rossoneri directors do not want to undergo a major squad revamp again, therefore, they are looking for a strong manager who can get the best out of the current team.

Mancini is very interested in a return to Italy, however, the main obstacle will be matching his wages and getting him out of his contract with the Russian club.
