Massimiliano Allegri dropped some pretty big hints during his presser last night, which could also be viewed as clear messages to the AC Milan management.
As pointed out by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo at the bottom), the key phrase during the presser was “€100m”. That is how much Allegri values qualifying for the Champions League which, in turn, would be quite the boost for the mercato.
The gaffer is eager to secure a top-four spot as that was the goal set out by the management last summer. If he succeeds, then he will have definitely proved his qualities to them, hoping to get an even bigger say on the movement this summer.
Ambitious signings needed
As the pink newspaper continues, Allegri made it clear that young and exciting talents already exist at the club, so that’s not something they need to add more of. Instead, he needs ambitious signings, like Leon Gortzeka, Alexander Sorloth, Mario Gila, a quality wing-back and more.
These additions would also help confirm Allegri’s ties with the club. Currently, he’s fully focused on the Rossoneri and the talks with the management are examples of that. However, if he realises that they are moving in two different directions, he could change his mind.
“The current meetings are about the future, but also about the current season, because it’s the results achieved that influence our judgments and decisions. At the end of the season, when we know where we have arrived, we will continue talking, hoping to have laid an important foundation.
“First, however, we need to finish in the top four, and that’s all that matters: the standings are good, but if you mess up one game, you will find the others closing in, and you can get anxious. After May 24th, we’ll evaluate how to improve the team.
“We all need to work towards this goal, because reaching the objective will shift the mercato by €100m,” he stated during his presser. Message certainly sent to the management.
Two key points next season
A win in Reggio Emilia today wouldn’t secure Champions League qualification, but it would get Milan very close. As such, Allegri has allowed himself to talk a little bit more about what could happen if they were to make the return. By the sounds of it, there are two key points.
“We will make decisions about how to improve the squad numerically, because it’s one thing to have one competition, but it’s another to have two with the Champions League,” he said, suggesting that Milan must reach the 25-player limit to feel fully covered, which is the first point.
“We will start with a base of players who have grown up in the youth system, like Comotto, Gabbia, Camarda, Bartesaghi, and Torriani. This means the youth sector has done a good job. The young players are there, and the resources can be used elsewhere, on experienced players,” he said.
In other words, as the second point, Milan need to spend the money where it actually matters. Allegri wants players he can rely on, because next year, with playing every three days and at least eight matches in the first phase of the Champions League, there can’t be ups and downs in performance.
Certainties, not gambles, because the bar will be raised in 2026-27: “We will see how the club wants to approach next season, but we all need to be aligned with the best interests of Milan.”

Sorloth, Goretzka, Gila, Grimaldo are 60M.
If Leao stays, just one more midfielder is needed, maybe extra CB like Ake. If he doesn’t, his fee will be used for his replacement.
So for extra midfielder and CB we have 40M. Ake should be around 10M, making midfielder target under 30M. Guerra would fit perfectly.
Sorloth, Goretzka, Guerra, Grimaldo, Gila, Ake
Sorloth and Gimenez, really? They would bring us the “scudetto”? Even with Lewa as a starter, Santi would be a problem. 2 DC, 2 WB, 2 MC and 2 SC
(sell Odogu, Estupinan, RLC, Leao and Gimenez),
it is as simple as that.
I think names are not important how important is that new player have much bigger chance to have direct impact in game.
For example Milan spent 60 million on Jashari and Ricci, and only salary for Luka Modric- that’s what Allegri needs.
Not overspending on young player who can bring capital gain later – but player who can make difference now and bring 10 points in season now.
I wasn’t talking about the transfer fees, my friend, actually, I did quite the opposite. Vlahovic would not cost us a penny in terms of the transfer fee…
you need 5 players in attack, with our injury issues anyway. Sorloth is Fulkrug’s replacement and main striker will still to come. Leao will be sold most likely.
Main striker is still to come, OK, I agree, of course, but you didn’t mention that starting striker at all
in your comment above and you gave the wrong impression- seven or eight new players are needed,
I can not stress that enough. Even six would be too little.
Leao leaving is not 100%, having Vlahovic, Leao and Puli together makes no sense. Allegri said himself that we can’t judge players on a bad season. This season was learning the system, regaining defense and midfield. Next season will be about attack.
Leao OR Vlahovic – Pulisic
Gimenez/Sorloth – Nkunku
Having too many changes damages the team. 4-5 is fine, we can’t have 8 transfers every season. fix the holes first, Odogu, RLC, Estupinan, Fulkrug. (6th CB like Ake and 7th midfielder like Guerra should also be discussed, that makes 5-6)
Nkunku, Leao and Fofana are not that high priority.
There is no way Leao can manage playing as a 9
(as a)
As “Gazzetta dello Sport” reported this morning , Max Allegri will ask for at least four players to bolster his squad this summer: possibly one for each department. In midfield, the club is already working to bring home Leon Goretzka, Max’s favorite, on a free transfer. In attack, the name the coach is interested in is Alexander Sorloth , while in defense he is focusing entirely on
Mario Gila. In addition to these three names,
who could be indicated as the primary objectives, Allegri also wants a new full-back.”
GILA, GRIMALDO, GORETZKA, GOMES (GGGG)
How about buying players from Sassuolo?
It’s for sure that money will be wasted for rubbish players alegri always after the rubbish
So this statement means Comotto, Gabbia, Camarda, Bartesaghi, and Torriani will be part of the 25 man squad next season (for uefa squad rules if nothing else), which is great news. We need 8 home grown players and that would be 5 out of the 8.
Ricci will be the 6th. Question is who the last 2 would be?
I think Bellanova would be a good addition for the right wing back position, for squad list reasons as well as quality.
Another central defender would also be great. Calafiori comes to mind for the same reasons, and his left footed and can rotate with Pavlovic.
Who else would work?
From the players you mentioned, most aren’t one of those 8. Only Gabbia and Bartesaghi ( he will be 21 this year). Homegrown under 21 players go into B list and there is no limit on how many you can use. So Comotto, Camarda, Torrian are not part of the A list and don’t use those spots. Terraciano might stick around as we don’t know what Allegri thinks of him. Fagioli is a target.
Also it is 4-4, 4 trained at club, and 4 trained in Italy. We can fill the full list with trained at club only, but not the other way around.
What happened with all the talk about Moise Kean like a month or so back? Wouldn’t he bring guaranteed goals and quality play if he remained healthy?
and Moise is Italian, correct?
the real change we need to do is selling Leao. He is the one demoralizing our players with his questionable commitment.
I am not a Leao fan, but I think this year everyone is unfair to him. Allegri keeps asking him to do something he can’t. Next game I suspect you’ll see Gimenez and Leao up top. A much better combination. Leao is Allegri’s guy and Pulisic will be sold to raise cash.
I had said it. Allegri’s style will deny Milan the Scudetto. That’s lost this season. Now they are struggling for UCL places. If he doesn’t change his retrogressive and lethargic style Milan will be thoroughly embarrassed at next UCL if they qualify.
