By Oliver Fisher -

Carlo Ancelotti is ready to take on his beloved AC Milan in a battle for Zlatan Ibrahimovic once he is confirmed as Everton boss, a report claims.

We reported via our mercato expert that optimism from Milan regarding the signing of Ibrahimovic has grown to the extent that Zvonomir Boban hopes to unveil the striker on Sunday before the game against Sassuolo – but since then everything seems to have gone in the opposite direction.

ArenaNapoli meanwhile claimed earlier in the month that Everton officials – who are believed to be close to hiring Ancelotti – have put together a lucrative package to try and lure the 38-year-old back to England.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, the Swede could reunite with Everton after the pair worked together at Paris Saint-Germain.

Ancelotti revealed that he held discussions with Ibrahimovic while he was Napoli boss, and Schira believes he wanted to take him to Naples, but now it could be a return to England on the cards.

Ibrahimovic has 456 goals and 174 assists in 741 competitive games across spells at Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, PSG, Manchester United and LA Galaxy.
