GdS: Arsenal defender tops Milan’s wish list for January – the situation

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have set their sights on the former Serie A man Jakub Kiwior for the defence. Despite a lack of playing time this season, convincing Arsenal to let the centre-back go could be tough, as per a report.

Kiwior joined the English side from Spezia in the middle of last season in a €25m deal. This season, however, he has only amassed 182 minutes in the league. Milan are thus closely monitoring his situation ahead of the January window.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Milan intend to reinforce four positions in January and centre-back is one of them. Kiwior is at the top of their wish list but it remains to be seen if Arsenal will open up to a loan formula.

Chelsea’s Benoit Badiashile is another option, but the Rossoneri will make a serious attempt for the Polish international first. At the age of 23, the defender could use consistent playing time to continue his development, with Milan ready to offer him more than Arsenal on that front.

The only certainty is that one centre-back will arrive in January, following the serious injury of Pierre Kalulu. The Frenchman aims to be back in around four months, and one can understand why the management has turned to the mercato.
