GdS: Atalanta defeat highlighted just how important Calhanoglu is for Milan

By Isak Möller -

Milan didn’t create many chances last night as they conceded three goals against Atalanta, failing to get on target for the first time in 38 games. Their No.10, Hakan Calhanoglu, was missing due to COVID.

The Turkish international has been incredibly important for the Rossoneri this season, acting as their main source of creativity on the attacking phase. He has bagged six goals and nine assists in all competitions this season.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), although most fans knew it before the game as well, Calhanoglu is crucial for the team. Without him, how they play in attack is completely different and Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains alone.

Meanwhile, Milan are working to renew the midfielder’s contract, which will expire in the summer. The feeling is that a solution is close, but until the papers are signed, the fans are right to be a bit worried about the situation.
