GdS: Athletic tests on the agenda as Milan stars begin work at Milanello

By Isak Möller -

Four of AC Milan’s stars have returned to training at Milanello, while the rest of the team is in the United States, and athletic tests are on the cards. With just two weeks remaining until the season opener, there isn’t loads of time.

The likes of Mike Maignan, Strahinja Pavlovic, Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders started their pre-season yesterday at Milanello. Pavlovic was only just signed by the club, while the other three got extended vacations due to going far in the Euros.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), the quartet underwent athletic tests yesterday and that is also on the agenda for today. From there, Milan will decide how to get them ready for the season opener in the best way possible.

Paulo Fonseca has been working with a pretty big squad in the US and it’s possible that he could field a line-up without them in the opener. This seems unlikely, though, as at least Maignan, Hernandez and Reijnders are such important players for the team.

Pabvlovic, meanwhile, will need more time to get to know his new teammates. Matteo Gabbia or Malick Thiaw will be the starter alongside Fikayo Tomori, as such.
