GdS: Bad news arrives on both Rebic and Origi – when they should return

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s injury woes continue as Ante Rebic and Divock Origi will not be available for the two big games coming up this week, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that the two forwards will in fact miss both tomorrow night’s match against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and the big game against fellow table toppers Napoli at San Siro on Sunday night.

For these two very important games, head coach  Stefano Pioli will therefore only have Olivier Giroud as a centre-forward so he will be asked to work overtime and run the risk of injury himself.

The medical staff hoped to recover at least Origi for the game at the weekend, but the Belgian will travel to be with the medical staff of his national team – in agreement with that of the club – to continue therapy on a muscle issue that now has developed into a tendon problem. He should be back after the break.

It could instead take a little longer to see Rebic return as he has a small herniated disc. The problem is being resolved and fortunately there should be no need for surgery, but we are looking at October for him to come back and he will need a longer reactivation phase.

  1. Give me a break! How come that Rebic is injured almost all the time, saying nothing about Origi situation. Essentially, we have 1 active ST, who is 36 years old. God forbid anything happens to him!!

  2. 2 striekrs out, 5 players being sold, 3 players with yellow card in field, players are getting demoralized,

and STILL PIOLI NOT GIVING ADLI PLAYIGN TIME

  3. Everybody hated me when I said sell Rebic. Now you see? We could have got good money for him. He’s a great player when healthy but he’s never healthy any season. Now he will be worth nothing and contribute minimally to our season. We’ll done Milan! We bought Vranckx and Thiaw when we really just needed a ST and a RW… so so so so bad.

    1. If you think buying Vranckx and Thiaw is a not needed, then you don’t know football. The main mistake was relying on Rebic, especially after last season that he missed about half of the season. Management should have seen the writing on the wall.

Apparently, Origi too is not proving to be a wise investment, sadly. Belotti should have arrived, but that’s no longer possible.

  4. So basically our front line up only consists with overworked 35 years old and underworked teenager? Damn, Pioli should work for another miracle again then.

  5. I keep saying, Even if Rebic wont need surgery and the herniated disc will heal in October, that injury always comes back so he will constantly be out. He might be fine for a couple of games when hes back but dont be surprised if hes out soon after.

ST and RW a must in January

  6. Rebic is always like this whenever we need him same story every season
In pre-season players like this always prevent the club from buying players because they will shine in training and friendly matches thus stopping the club from buying new players and even loan out other strikers
Now is when we need him but no way
Same thing last 3 season to this day
On origi it’s our management fault and let them deal with that
Let the deal with the garbage they brought
Played 15 mins out of 3-4 games
    It’s Rubbish
No player like ibramovic who was on injections playing for Milan

  7. Origi!!!!! It’s funny I do not see those big heads that were loUding the management for getting Origi over belloti, now everybody is against Origi.

Now you all know why klopp only give him the minimal minutes to play. Belloti who is by far better in both goals and assists, even better in all round play than Origi is somehow deemed average by some plastic big headed fans here….sometimes I wish we can upload image here, so we nail people who go back against their words.

We bought the wrong striker and this thing that Pioli is doing to Adli is extremely STUPID. Diaz and pobega play when Adli doesn’t play, this is most stupidiest decision that Pioli have taken since he have been incharge, even vrancxx plays.

The same Adli I watched in preseason, is on the bench for Diaz to keep disappointing? Nobody should tell me anything, pioli need to deliver answers

    1. I think he is playing diaz over Adli for two reaso s:

      1. He is preparing Adli to take a huge responsibility in Serie A for Mialn
      2. He just arrived to the team, to serie a and maybe, just maybe he is not prepare.

Those are the onlt things cluld be in between him starting games. And trust me I want him to start right away
