Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti found his way onto Milan’s list of targets to reinforce the defence but there is a major hurdle, a report claims.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed yesterday that Fikayo Tomori is set to join Milan from Chelsea. The agreement is expected to be completed next week on the basis of a loan deal with option to buy (and not an obligation) for around €30m.
According to today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) however, it seems that Samuel Umtiti was also a target for the Rossoneri management.
The 27-year-old Frenchman is finding very little playing time in Barcelona and therefore ended up in the Rossoneri notebooks, as they are always attentive to opportunities.
However, there is a rather complicated obstacle to overcome, namely his €6million net salary. Elliott Management have reserved paying that level of salary only for the elite players in the squad like Gianluigi Donnarumma and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it seems.
