GdS: Barcelona begin talks over Leao and Chiesa – the stance of Milan and Juventus

Barcelona have run into problems in their bid to revolutionise the attack available to Hansi Flick, and they have turned their sights towards Rafael Leao of AC Milan and Federico Chiesa of Juventus.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have confirmed the earlier report from Mundo Deportivo which claimed that Barça want to close the market with the signing of a top-tier attacking winger, and that they spoke about Leao with the agent Jorge Mendes.

However, this does not mean that the end of the summer window for Milan will be shaken by the most sensational of negotiations, because the winger is ‘unsellable’ in the eyes of the management at present and would cost a huge amount.

Barcelona have not made an offer and have just had ‘exploratory talks’ over the ex-Lille star, yet a deal remains incredible complicated. They cannot pay his €175m clause which is no longer even active after 15 July, and the Rossoneri do not want to sell because they would have no time to replace him.

It’s a different story for Chiesa, because the player really likes the idea of joining the Blaugrana and Juventus have been looking for a club willing to sign the forward for some time, so there could be a potential marriage.

Despite this, the Catalan side are battling to stay on the right side of the rules financially, so much so that they have not been able to officially register Dani Olmo because to do so they must free up some wage budget, which they are trying to offload Ilkay Gundogan and Vítor Roque to do.

    1. And this is what some here want us to be. Spend 200M every year as if there are no consequences. Barcelona is a financial disaster.

      1. For Barca there will be no consequences as they’re under UEFA’s protection. If Milan’s finances were in the same state, UEFA would have put 30 different sanctions on the club and demanded them to be relegated to Serie D or lower.

      2. Yeah and they think the management is being cheap.
I’d rather this way than what chelsea do in the market.
Really remind me of the chinese owner era.

  1. They want leao for a discount and then if they ever signed him would slap a 1 billion buy out clause on him like all the other ridiculous ones

  2. I don’t like them, when they ‘buy’ they usually make war between player and his actual team , lewandovski, dembele, suarez, coutinho, fabregas, sanchez … all had a beef with clubs to let them go to barca, trash transfer tactic they use

  3. For just over 100M bid is already a record in the club’s history and we should sell him for good. Then welcoming Chiesa would be nice for another Italian in the club

    1. And then Chiesa goes in and sidelined for 8 moths because of his knee injuries. People actually thinking that knee injury ever heals is ridiculous.

      1. We have Okafor if Chiesa gets injured.
Sell Leao now that he is still hot cake. Because he has skills but messes around a lot like Balotelli.

  4. I laughed. Thanks for the morning entertainment. And I don’t even like Way 45 that much but I still find this piece of news funny.

  5. Spanish media (who originally reported this) is grasping at straws here. This move would never happen for two reasons:

    1. 60mil budget that Barca have is nowhere near the figure Milan would command for Leao…

    2. Even if by some miracle Barca did come up with 100mil payment plan, it is too close to the close of the window for Milan to use the money to replace Rafa.

  6. This clown club should have been declared bankrupt.
Feeling like a rich club, buying stars every season. Poor is still poor.

  7. Barcelona is looking at offloading Gundogan because of his 17m salary. How the hell are they even going to sign anyone else. They’re literally the club with the most debt on the planet

  8. Barcelona is looking at offloading Gundogan because of his 17m salary in order to register Olmo, HOW are they going to afford Leao’s new salary then?

  9. if we are being serious the might want him but they wont get him anyways leao contract will be “free spotify premium”, dancing lesson with lewandowski on wednesday”, “training with araujo on saturday and sunday” “playing fifa with yamal and raphina” and might give him free electricity bills and 2$ per week aint no way barcaa buys him

    1. Bruv, Frankie De Jong and Levandovski are basically the rank #1 and #2 in highest paid players in Europe’s top 5 leagues. What are the highest salary in Milan?!
