GdS: Bologna expected to accept €60m for Milan-linked star as Arsenal send scout

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are very much in the race to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer but they face competition from Arsenal, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting that Arsenal sent a scout to Italy on Saturday evening, more specifically to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to follow Bologna’s match against Monza so they could watch Zirkzee up close.

Bologna’s CEO Claudio Fenucci made it clear what the club’s wish is regarding the Dutch striker, stating: “We would like to keep everyone in red and blue, which is their colour.”

The former Bayern Munich striker, however, will be the prized piece of the summer transfer window, with many teams having already established themselves as contenders to land him.

Milan have been on his trail for months as per the paper and as Pietro Mazzara reported earlier, while in recent weeks Juventus have also joined the race.

Bologna will try to keep him, especially if they qualify for the next Champions League, but if an offer of €60m comes in they will ‘hardly be able to say no’.

In the background, there is Bayern Munich. For the moment the Bavarians have not given any indications about possibly using their buy-back clause, which stands at €40m.

If they do not exercise it, the Germans would instead get a percentage of 40% of the amount that exceeds the €8m paid by Bologna for him.

So if Zirkzee were sold for €50m, €16.8m would go to the Bavarians with a simple calculation: €8m are subtracted from the amount offered, leaving €42m, from which 40% must be subtracted.

  1. I hope we don’t end up looking at another Taremi this year, and then on the last day sign a Jovic. That would be a complete failure on the management part.

Almost seems like we’ll end up getting Lukaku or Icardi or some other striker over 30.

    1. i wouldnt mind guirassy and neither would i mind scamacca whom ive always liked a great deal. He could be the ideal replacement for giroud at a fairly low cost as well.

        1. To be fair i think scalvini will be sold for minimum 60 mil on his own so not really sure if its feasible but if it is then i wouldnt mind a deal like that either.

        2. Why would Atalanta offload both of them if they can sell both separately and make more money? Especially if they both perform well at the EURO’s?

      1. I think you guys are right, Scamacca would do the job, tho Sesko looks a player.

Maybe Gerry will splash out and buy Openda!

        1. Sesko is definitely also one of my hopes for the attack even though he might need a bit of adjustment time he potentially could become a huge star player.
Openda probably will cost well above 50 mil so doubt its feasible unless cardinale has some plans to splash some cash this summer or we sell a marquee player. Time will tell. Maybe he will buy us balogun this year so we have 3 americans in the squad.

          1. Ah yeah, Openda will cost a fortune now. He really has it all

He was sold by Brugges for 15m in 22 when we paid 35m for CDK

          2. Yes indeed, they can’t all be gems.

I would still like to ask Moncada why they decided on CDK
What position were they looking him to fill?

They must surely have looked at Openda also.

          3. I had great hopes for cdk and i was actually expecting him to be one of the great european buys in the summer of 2022 unfortunately it didnt happen. Just to make it clear i was not one of those expecting him to be a new kaka 😀 Things could have gone a lot different though because he could fairly easy have had 5 assists after his first ten matches but his team mates kept missing one sitter after the other and when there wasnt any end product the mood towards him took a turn and i think it took a toll on his confidence.
They probably scouted openda but who knows why they didnt get him but in the end its always easy to look back in hindsight.

  2. Ok, better this way. I don’t consider him better than Okafor to be honest. Scamacca would be ideal for me, Sesko probably is going to Barca…

  3. Can’t Colombo,Daniel Maldini,Lasxettic and orders be trained well? Why do we demoralize our products? Give them chance and time. Look at JAMEEL JAMAL IN BARCA, FABREGAS WITH ARSENAL…TRAIN THEM, GIVE THEM VIDEO CLIPS TO WATCH,BUILD THEM WITH GIM AND SPEED. Remember MARCO BORIELLO AND OTHERS
