GdS: Bologna blitz sees them overtake Milan in race for Zlatan Ibrahimovic

By Oliver Fisher -

Bologna have overtaken AC Milan in the race to sign striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January, according to a report.

It was confirmed earlier in the month that the Swede will depart LA Galaxy officially once his contract expires at the end of the year, leaving him free to sign with another club.

A number of teams have been linked in the media including Manchester United and Napoli, but at present the strongest speculation is centered around a return to Milan or a move to Bologna.

Monday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews.it) reports that Bologna are the team now leading the race thanks to a ‘blitz’ from their director Marco Di Vaio.

He apparently explained the project to Ibrahimovic, who appreciated the gesture, and now Milan will have to accelerate talks in the coming days if they want to beat the competition.

One potential influencer in his decision will obviously also be his family and in particular his wife Helena, who has never hidden her love for the city of Milano.

Maldini and Boban have held numerous talks with Mino Raiola, as the latter has several clients who are Milan players like Donnarumma, Bonaventura and Romagnoli.

However, more direct contacts regarding Ibrahimovic are needed soon if the Diavolo want to win the race and add some much needed firepower.
