Former AC Milan defender Daniele Bonera is closing in on a return to the club in a coaching capacity, a report claims.
The 38-year-old is currently without a club as he will be released by Villarreal on July 1, having made just 11 appearances in the 2018-19 season across all competitions.
Bonera made 201 appearances for the Rossoneri in all competitions between 2006-2015, and reports on Sunday suggest a return to San Siro could be on the cards.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Italy international is closing in on a reunion with Milan as new head coach Marco Giampaolo wants him as part of his staff.
Giampaolo meanwhile gave his first interview as new Milan boss, insisting that his desire is to bring fascinating and exciting football back to the club.
