GdS: Camarda likely to be on bench vs. Parma – who will replace Morata

After the news that Alvaro Morata will not be present for AC Milan’s game against Parma, questions have arisen about who will replace him, and the conversation involves a certain 16-year-old star.

When Joshua Zirkzee went to Manchester United, Milan were quick to move on and brought Morata to the club after triggering his release clause. Of course, going from a striker of Zirkzee’s profile to the Spaniard was questioned, but there is, reportedly, some thinking behind the change.

It all comes down to Francesco Camarda, and this is why the following pursuits have been of an ‘older’ bracket, allowing the young striker a clear path into the first team, when the time is right. However, there have been consistent reports stating he could be this season’s ‘third striker’.

The suggestions are that Camarda will feature for the senior side when ready, and when the opportunity is presented, and this would mean a striker department of Morata, Luka Jovic and the starlet.

This weekend will be the first time that we could see the feasibility of this idea, given Morata will miss the clash – and likely others – so Camarda could be involved in some aspect, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News).

However, they state that ‘you can’t expect Fonseca to bet on Camarda straight away’, so Noah Okafor could be the option used. Nevertheless, Camarda is ‘likely’ to be on the squad list for the fixture.

  1. You’ve backups for situations like this. Any of Okafor,Jovic are expected to be good enough for Parma with due respect to them. Camarda should be on the bench. It’s simple and easy. Fonseca should stop overthinking ffs.

    1. i’m with you. Just being on the bench, train and prepare with the senior squad is already a win. Okafor can and should take the start. If by some miracle we are winning by 3 goals or so, then sure, give the kid some minutes.

  2. Jovic, RLC, Adli, Pobega need to go OUT!

We are planning on losing another great player like Bennacer for RLC to fail miserably again at double-pivot? people see goals and forget how much his goals cost us in defense. Bennacer is only regista we have.

Jovic is just mockery of fans!

  3. I think Liberali is more ready for the first team than Camarda. Not even Liberali I’d be bringing too often to the first team, much less Camarda. Both are too young to be used too often against the grown-ups in Serie A with the first team; let them grow with Milan Futuro! I’d be careful; let’s not ruin the kids’ careers! Okafor starting as CF against Parma is just fine. Let’s leave Camarda available to start on Sunday for Milan Futuro’s first Serie C game.

On another note, I see that there is movement for midfielders Vos and Koné. I welcome Vos for Milan Futuro and he will be able to be inserted in the U22 UEFA List spots without taking anybody else’s spot, so that’s good. I think Koné is a really, really good CAM and I’d welcome him too.

However, what concerns me is that Milan has clearly two spots that are weaker than the CAM spot. Those are: a suitable LB deputy for Theo, and a striker better than Jovic.

We saw the disaster that not having a good deputy for Theo has provoked, last game: Alexis Saelemaekers totally out of position there, being eaten alive.

We saw how Jovic was entirely ineffective like he always is when he starts as the sole striker. Even Okafor is often better when coming in late; his starts haven’t been great either. While we have Morata, we are fine. But see, we got 20 minutes out of Morata and he’s already injured, and will miss Parma and Lazio and likely Venezia too. So, we’re in trouble again, and we may see Inter pulling ahead again.

We’ll have some 55 games this season. We are too thin at CF, with only Okafor being a partially good option there. I wouldn’t mind selling Jovic and getting another CF to help with resting Morata from time to time, without too much quality drop.

And for Theo, with Florenzi injured there is no good option to back him up. Terracciano is terribly bad. Alexis is not a LB. Maybe Bartesaghi who is decent, but he’s not great and is also very young. We need a true LB who won’t make us miss Theo so much when Theo is unavailable (and he will be; while not being injury-prone, Theo always collects too many yellow cards and some red cards).

I do realize that the mercato is dwindling and we will likely not find a good LB and a good CF (we don’t seem to even be trying) this window. I just lament that we keep signing midfielders without addressing areas that have a bigger need and are thinner than the midfield. I think we should have looked for a LB and another CF earlier in the window. That’s, for me, a management failure.

  4. Just please do not play Leao, and please in general do not play a player out of position while the player who holds such position is on the bench. Its a bad message? Who is our Theo back up, if it is Saladmaker, fine, but if is Terracciano, he should have been there this weekend.
