GdS: Cardinale will attend Milan-Cagliari and speak to the team again

Gerry Cardinale will be present at San Siro tonight for Milanä-Cagliari, and just like before the Genoa clash, he will speak to the team.

Cardinale turned up at the Marassi last weekend to watch his team in action, and according to reports, he even spoke to the team in the locker room. Perhaps it was the support that the players needed, as they went out and won that game 2-1.

As highlighted in today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo at the bottom), Cardinale will be present at tonight’s game too and he intends to speak to the team again. Then, depending on the outcome, he will have some important matters to deal with.

Allegri’s future on the line

In the event of Champions League qualification tonight, then Allegri will have satisfied the request of the RedBird founder. His contract would then be automatically renewed for a year, as well as increased from €5m net per year to €6m, and he would get more influence on the mercato.

Goncalo Ramos is currently the manager’s first choice to reinforce the attack, and Leon Goretzka has also been mentioned as a direct request. Without the Champions League, however, the possibility of a divorce and a move to Napoli would be high.

Corporate decisions to make

The other hot topic, of course, is the structure of the club. The arrival of a new CEO to replace Giorgio Furlani is very likely. Massimo Calvelli is currently handling that recruitment process, looking at both Italian and foreign candidates for the position.

A decision on a new CEO likely won’t be made this week, but it will give Cardinale a chance to touch base with Calvelli in person about the work so far. Furthermore, with Allegri staying, the chances of Igli Tare staying would also increase a lot as the manager likes him.

Meanwhile, the technical director/chief scout Geoffrey Moncada has no intention of accepting an offer elsewhere (there is interest), keen on renewing with Milan. Adriano Galliani is also being considered to strengthen the club, given his experience and leadership.

In short, some important decisions could be on the cards and Cardinale will need to be heavily involved in this.
