GdS: Cardinale wants to secure renewal of five Milan stars – Tonali a symbol of the project

One of Gerry Cardinale’s first missions as the new owner of AC Milan will be to protect the core of the squad for the future with contract renewals.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that the RedBird leader Cardinale has very important plans for the economic and sporting future of the Rossoneri including turning it into a media company that can make the club’s brand grow globally. There is also the aim of increasing revenues through sponsorships and the construction of the new stadium.

However, matters on the pitch are also important and Cardinale knows that every player is an asset and part of the club’s heritage. For this reason, certain renewal situations have become a priority this summer.

Despite being the player with the longest contract (expiring in 2026) Sandro Tonali is certainly a player that Milan cannot afford to lose and must make feel valued due to his age, quality, potential and his attachment to the shirt.

He might not be the main priority though given Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer’s deal will expire in 2024, and they are two other pillars of the project, and then the same can be said for Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu.
