GdS: Chelsea winger open to Milan move and willing to take pay cut – the situation

AC Milan are on the lookout for options to strengthen their right side and Christian Pulisic is an idea that is gaining more and more momentum, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below and as cited by SempreMilan.it) recall how Pulisic racked up 127 appearances and 19 goals for Borussia Dortmund, while he has 145 games and 26 goals for Chelsea.

However, last season he struggled to find playing time in what was a turbulent season for the Blues, and he feels like Milan could give him back a leading role and further enhance his talent.

Milan meanwhile are after a winger who can beat his man and score goals, hoping to have a two-sided attack with Rafael Leao on the left and Pulisic on the opposite side which would guarantee a good balance.

Positive signs

The new management are already at work and the signs are good. The 24-year-old would be happy to join and would be willing to reduce his salary which today is close to €5m net per season.

Pulisic has seemingly made no secret regarding his liking for the Rossoneri, given his last Instagram post was accompanied by two circles, one red and one black, sparking hundreds of comments.

The expiry of his contract with Chelsea is set for June 2024 and this affects the value of his price tag. A discount will certainly be applied to the price tag which is currently over €25m, given what they paid Dortmund.

Brand impact

Pulisic has 7,200,000 followers on his various social media platforms, Olivier Giroud is just one of them. He therefore has a huge following, an interesting note given the relationship between sport and entertainment that Cardinale wants to cultivate.

Pulisic also has a Croatian passport despite the fact he was born in Hersey, Pennsylvania. Cardinale could use his image to draw the attention of the US public and thus grow the brand across the Atlantic Ocean.

With the USA national team he has played 57 games and scored 23 goals. Pulisic would partially occupy the space freed up by Brahim Diaz and it does not exclude the exit of either Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers.
