GdS: Chelsea striker lined up as Milan need replacement for Colombo

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are expected to let Lorenzo Colombo leave on loan this summer and will thus have to find a new striker on the market. Chelsea youngster Armando Broja is in pole position for the role, a report claims.

Colombo spent last season on loan at Lecce and after impressing Stefano Pioli during the pre-season, many expected him to remain as the third-choice striker. However, the youngster has asked to leave the club on another loan.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below), Monza are close to securing the services of Colombo and Milan will thus have to bring in a striker. Chelsea’s Armando Broja is in pole position, per the newspaper, as the Rossoneri are ready to make a serious attempt.

Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada want to secure the 21-year-old on an initial loan deal and it remains to be seen if Chelsea will accept that. In any case, after completing the defence with the arrival of Marco Pellegrino, the attack is now the priority for Milan.

  1. Honestly why would they loaned out Colombo and sign him. Not like he has been a hit at Chelsea and a regular starter, let’s hope Colombo stays.

    1. Tomori wasn’t a regular starter and look what happened. Okay he’s lost it a bit recently but all this talk about just because a coach benched a player at a different club doesn’t mean he’s a bad player. Or coach for that matter.

  2. This really makes no sense to me. Guy is coming off a major knee injury and hasn’t played all that much when Colombo is well prepared and has played in Serie A. We already have enough injury-prone players.

  3. It seems like some guys here have watched Borja and Colombo trains…
Colombo needs more playing time, we can’t keep him on the bench and expect him to improve

  4. Colombo wants to leave so let him leave. We want players who want to be here don’t we? Not getting stars in their eyes when they think of Genoa or something.

  5. Nobody got a chance to play at Chelsea last year with the insanely bloated roster they had after all that spending and no selling!
Broja was AWESOME at Southampton when he did get a chance to play. He is a beast and can finish/score and he’s young. Colombo, I do like, but he wants to leave; so we should loan him out to make him happy and continue his development and let’s keep the train of players from Chelsea to Milan coming…

  6. Isn’t there anyone at Milan hierarchy seeing that there is practically no difference to bring this guy as a “substitute” for Colombo?
I mean, they’re both the same age. have same experience, even more, Colombo spent entire last season playing, while this guy spent the majority of time injured!
So. what’s the point?! Unless, to keep him on the bench, while Colombo plays each match and then bring them both back to their homes next year!?
