Samuel Chukwueze and Mattia Liberali have been the subjects of plenty of praise from the Italian press after their superb performances against Real Madrid in Chicago.
Luca Bianchin was in Chicago for La Gazzetta dello Sport to see the Rossoneri take on the European and Spanish champions and it was a Real Madrid team that featured the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Luka Modric, Endrick, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz from the start.
Therefore, Milan’s victory is one that they can take genuine confidence from and it was clear that Paulo Fonseca is instilling a certain style in this team
It took until the 55th minute for Milan to actually score and it came from Chukwueze, who had been a danger throughout. Fikayo Tomori stepped out of defence very well and played the ball to Liberali.
He turned and ran with composure before picking the pass to Chukwueze who finished well at the near post.
At just 17 years of age, Liberali is taking the chance offered to him by Fonseca and whilst not expected to have much of a role in the first team, he has made Fonseca aware that he is an option down the line.
As highlighted by Gazzetta, the two main messages sent by Milan are that Chukwueze could be in for a much-improved season, and that there are multiple youngsters with a lot of talent and personality at the club.
I think finishing will be our undoing this season but I like that they now create better chances compared to the latter part of Pioli’s tenure. Morata probably salivating thinking of how many scoring chances he’s gonna get.
