GdS: Club Brugge to use CDK money and beat Milan to signing of midfielder

By Isak Möller -

Club Brugge are expected to use the money they got from selling Charles De Ketrlaere to Milan in their pursuit of Raphael Onyedika. The midfielder has also been heavily linked with the Rossoneri lately.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara had seemingly made Onyedika, the Midtjylland midfielder, their primary target for a few days. However, the Danish club stood firm on their demands and are now expected to get them satisfied.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport’s Luca Bianchin, Club Brugge have put €9m on the table and Onyedika is now very close to joining the club. Bar any last-minute surprises, such as a new offer from Milan (very unlikely), the deal will materialise.

Of course, you can’t help but think that Milan’s €35m signing of De Ketelaere helped the Belgian side raise the funds for Onyedika. In any case, it seems the Rossoneri will have to look elsewhere for a midfield as the search continues.

  1. Bruges made 85m this year with cl + transfers so you can say they have more funds than just the cdk money, with 50m you would still be able to buy a 9m player

  2. They seem like a team who really know what they’re doing.

Every time someone says good starting players cost 40m+ these days I think of clubs like Brugge who always have the next generation scouted in advance ready for when their stars get sold off for big money.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see this lad sold to England for big money in a couple of years.
