GdS: David, Kiwior, Miranda – Milan line up three deals to reignite Scudetto push

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AC Milan are lining up three January signings to try and rekindle their Scudetto charge.

The paper (as seen below) writes that Milan’s new year will not begin on January 1 but on Tuesday 2, the day the market reopens. The aim for 2024 is to strengthen the team with at least a couple of signings, and there is a need to intervene in defence and attack.

Against Atalanta on Saturday, Stefano Pioli will use Theo Hernandez as a central defender agains and will place the only available wingers – Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic – either side of Olivier Giroud. The need is clear: fresh reinforcements to help a squad that continues to battle swathes of injuries.

Jonathan David: The role of deputy to Giroud has only partially been filled by Luka Jovic, who netted his first goal for the club during the win over Frosinone. The presence of Jonathan David could help a lot in that sense.

In the summer Lille valued David at €60m after scoring 24 goals in 37 Ligue 1 goals, but that price has gone down because his deal runs out in June 2025 (with no signs of a renewal) and he has scored just four times in the league this season.

Milan will try in January, because the Canada international has been the first target on the list for weeks now and the management really believe that he is the centre-forward for the future.

Jakub Kiwior: The main target for the defence. At 23 years old, the Poland international moved to Arsenal in January after 18 months at Spezia for €25m but is not starting many games under Mikel Arteta at the moment and seems to be more of a rotation option.

Milan will try for a loan with option to buy, and while for Arteta he is not a crucial piece (five starts this season), under Pioli he would immediately be a starter given Malick Thiaw’s injury.

Juan Miranda: Once freed from his centre-back duties duties, Theo will return to the flank free to push forward and he will need a deputy after one didn’t arrive in the summer. Juan Miranda, the 23-year-old Spaniard, is the candidate identified for some time now.

The inclusion of Napoli in the race has suggested that Milan should accelerate: with his contract expiring in June with Betis, the intention is to bring forward his arrival by six months. Considering that he would leave for free in the summer, Betis may accept selling him for a few million.

  1. Please 🙏 get Juan Miranda and CDK back for the Milan team so we can progress to get the serie a league title for the 20th time and also if we defeat Newcastle at home, then we should aim for the double which is the Europa league

  2. Jonathan is the best option if Jonathan comes to milan for sure he will score 30 goals every year lille,s attack is awful he isn’t getting support

  3. Kiwior would be excellent but I’d be surprised is Arsenal let him go with an option to buy. Miranda would be a solid back up. Not sold on David as the focal point, #9 for our attack and especially not for 40M. I think there are better options for that price in the summer. Winter few choices but if we are dropping 40M that player better offer some guarantees and I don’t see that in David. Take away last season and his numbers don’t exactly pop IMO
