With another injury crisis for Stefano Pioli to battle, the role of his established ‘first choice’ players becomes even more crucial, and that applies in particular to Charles De Ketelaere.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Rade Krunic should start as the right winger against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night because Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias are both out injured.
The Bosnian is expected to be moved out as opposed to De Ketelaere, even though playing the Belgian on the right – as he has done before at Club Brugge – would mean then fielding Krunic or Brahim Diaz as a more natural central attacking midfielder.
With Brahim, the trio behind Olivier Giroud would be of an excellent technical level, given Leao’s presence on the left. However, Pioli doesn’t like to lose balance in his side so playing CDK plus Diaz is unlikely.
However, the starting position of De Ketelaere will in any case be an interesting theme. If he remained in the centre with Krunic at his side, his movements would change, as had already happened against Napoli when Leao was disqualified and Krunic was on the left.
Change formations pioli. Nothing drastic, but you can’t force the 4231 without the personnel. Imo run 4312 bennacer tonali pobega in mid. Can sub on adli (as long as he’s on the squad list but i can’t remember) and krunic in the mid if needed. Cdk as AM and then Rebic and Giroud both up top.

Can we stop saying de ketelaere will be decisive? Has he ever been decisive yet? Other than a few nice plays he hasn’t shown anything. I’ll give him the benefit this season cause he’s new but he ain’t anywhere near kaka
So far this season CDK made the highest numbers of key pass in Serie-A.
If you really watch the match vs Napoli and Empoli, you should see CDK gave a lot of great pass to Leao and Giroud that could lead to a goal. But sadly they wasted it. If Milan strikers more sharp in front of the goal, right now CDK already made around 5-7 assists.
And i can’t believe people still compare him with Kaka when his playing style is a lot closer to Rui Costa.
True. CDK gives a lot of great passes. Clear scoring opportunities for Tonali against Atalanta, Leao against Empoli,… If they scored CDK would have better numbers. Also he had already scored 2 great goals, but both of them were cancelled by VAR because of offside of another player (Once Origi, once Giroud). However CDK did a great job in both cases. It’s just bad luck that his numbers aren’t better at the moment.

I think CDK should stay as an AM , Brahim Diaz should play as a RW … I know for sure that ye would cause problem with his dribbling! Pioli should consider putting Diaz on the wing and give Adli more playing time as CDK’s alternative as a AM…
