GdS: From decisive goals to useless ones – Origi’s story at Milan thus far

Divock Origi joined AC Milan on a free transfer ahead of the season and the expectations were quite high, given the many important goals he has scored in his career. Thus far, however, the story has been the opposite.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara took a chance by bringing in the Belgian on a four-year deal worth €4m per season. More than halfway into the season, though, it’s safe to say that the signing hasn’t panned out like they thought it would.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Origi arrived with the reputation of scoring important goals but so far, he has only scored two useless ones. And his performances have all been subpar, even resulting in booes from the fans last night.

He’s the symbol of a Milan attack with no options. Olivier Giroud is the only one that has been somewhat consistent this season but there are simply no good options when he needs rest. A dilemma for Stefano Pioli and the Rossoneri.

  1. Poor recruitment by management and the lack of foresight from Maldini and Massara is beyond ridiculous given the fact that our chief scouting officer advised them to sign Muani on a free transfer.

Maldini signed Mandzukic and that was an epic failure and then he signed Origi another epic failure.

Belotti was a free agent and so was Muani but they signed an injury prone Origi who was injured when they signed him.

  2. How much milan pay to get him?
ZERO: there is a reason for that.
Milan need to stop looking at the price tag and pay a closer look at the players quality.
It’s been a while since they keep cheating on the fans.

  3. I always knew he would fail. There’s a reason why he wasn’t offered a new contract at Liverpool and why the coach didn’t pick him in the starting 11 over there. One of the worst signing ever.

  4. I always said Origi would be a flop. Where a the guys here who insulted me and said Origi will be a great asset ? lmao.

    1. I was also one of the guys who said he’d be a massive flop. But I do gotta admit I didn’t think he was this awful. I knew he wasn’t a goal scorer but I didn’t know they have far better strikers in even the lowest divisions in every European country and the guy cannot even play at all. He should have never gotten a professional contract as I’ve never seen anyone this awful at football.
