GdS: From decisive goals to useless ones – Origi’s story at Milan thus far

Divock Origi joined AC Milan on a free transfer ahead of the season and the expectations were quite high, given the many important goals he has scored in his career. Thus far, however, the story has been the opposite.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara took a chance by bringing in the Belgian on a four-year deal worth €4m per season. More than halfway into the season, though, it’s safe to say that the signing hasn’t panned out like they thought it would.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Origi arrived with the reputation of scoring important goals but so far, he has only scored two useless ones. And his performances have all been subpar, even resulting in booes from the fans last night.

He’s the symbol of a Milan attack with no options. Olivier Giroud is the only one that has been somewhat consistent this season but there are simply no good options when he needs rest. A dilemma for Stefano Pioli and the Rossoneri.
