GdS: ‘The Devil raise the wall’ – two new signings set to start vs. Parma

Paulo Fonseca is aiming to rectify his mistakes from the game against Torino, and to do so, he will start two of AC Milan’s new signings in the game against Parma.

The Serie A season started in a frustrating manner for Milan, and there must be some immediate rectification considering the Rossoneri left it very late to salvage a result.

As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recalls, the two goals scored by the Toro were consequences of ‘serious’ individual mistakes. Davide Calabria had a poor game and was booed off the field when the board showed his number, and Malick Thiaw had a game described as a ‘gallery of horrors’.

Therefore, it makes sense for a defensive restructuring to take place, and Gazzetta expects Fonseca to bring Emerson Royal and Strahinja Pavlovic into the defence.

Starting with the Brazilian, he has been training regularly and featured in Tottenham’s pre-season tour, so he is ready to be called up, and ‘should’ replace Calabria after the captain’s poor game. Pavlovic remained on the bench throughout the game against Torino, due to fitness reasons, but another week of training ‘could be enough’ to convince Fonseca to offer the new signing a starting place.

    1. He definitely don’t start this match, I think today is his first training.. Maybe he will play few minúte but it will depend on the score. Don’t know how good is his condition

    1. you might. and the best part is, i bet both or one of them will have a great game; and THAT is what is frustrating; especially on Calabria. I give Thiaw the benefit of the doubt because for a CB he’s young. But this same Calabria i, the one who shut down kvaratskhelia a few time, is the same one who based on last game, wouldnt even be on my sunday league

  1. We should start Gabbia this match. He is ready and did well when he came back last season.

    Mike ;
    Emerson , Tomori , Gabbia , Theo
    Bennacer , Reijnders
    Puli RLC Leao
    Okafor

  2. Too much changes from one game to another at the start of the season is not exactly smart. It’s panicking. Like “Oh sh*t man that didn’t work, quickly let’s try something completely new and different”.

    Step by step. Start with subbing in new players instead of throwing them into the fire immediately. Cause if it doesn’t work it’ll only damage their moral.

    Pioli made the same mistake last season.
