GdS: Monza dismissal must be a blip as Jovic’s Milan future remains undecided

By Ben Dixon -

Luka Jovic had, until this weekend, shown a season of two halves. Before the game against Dortmund and after – his dismissal this weekend may cause AC Milan to make a different decision about his future at the club.

After the game against Dortmund in the Champions League, the Serbian striker began dedicating himself to additional training outside the scheduled hours. This seemed to have an immediate effect as he hit form in December and seemed to be pushing for a starting spot.

However, the red card against Monza on Sunday has shown that there are still some negatives to his game. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, whilst it is the first sending off of his career to have a moment of frustration, that scenario leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

After 52 minutes, it was clear that he wasn’t having the best game, and he eventually became the victim and villain of Armando Izzo’s provocation. Following his actions, the outcome was clear, and Milan had a mountain to climb, and whilst they did, they fell at the end.

With his contract on a year-by-year basis, the Rossoneri hold all the cards, and it is up to Jovic to force the club to show their hand. Performances like those between December and January will cause this, and this has to be the story over the next few months instead of any repeats of Sunday’s showings.

  1. One mistake should not condemn this man. It’s not like this is a frequent issue, and the likes of thiaw and maignan have had the same lapses this season as well.

  2. One bad gesture can’t destroy everything, this guy will have chances again to prove if he is worth a new contract or not, but the big fat mf problem we have and it seems everyone forgot about is Origi with his big fat contract if we couldn’t get rid of him this summer we are in trouble for 2 years.
