GdS: ‘Fifth stamp’ – Milan closing in on €6m deal for Ajax midfielder

AC Milan are closing in on their fifth signing of the summer as talks over Ajax midfielder Silvano Vos are now quite advanced, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes how the new Milan is yet to take shape on the pitch, but on paper it is what the management had designed weeks ago in terms of the signings to address gaps in the squad.

The four additions so far are Emerson Royal, Strahinja Pavlovic, Youssouf Fofana and Alvaro Morata who should all be starters when fit and at 100%, and they all arrived inside the budget that the directors set for each operation.

The fifth arrival

Now, Silvano Vos should become signing number five and he would be an investment that would be perfectly in line with the club’s strategy: identifying talents around Europe and the world, and enhancing their qualities at San Siro.

At 19, Vos already has experience of 17 appearances for Ajax and many more in the club’s youth teams and in the Dutch youth national teams. Why is he leaving? The teenager really didn’t really like the treatment he got last season, when he thought he would play more.

Thus the Amsterdam club – who aren’t doing very well financially either – were convinced by the idea of selling for a pure capital gain and Vos’ agent Pini Zahavi has moved personally to ensure that the next destination is Milan.

The distance between the request and the offer has narrowed day after day, so much so that now all parties are confident of soon arriving at the white smoke for a figure around €6m.

Suitcases packed

With Vos arriving and Fofana being a sure starter, the playing time available to Ismael Bennacer and Yacine Adli is likely to be greatly reduced, something that could force late movement in the mercato.

For Bennacer a sale is an ‘increasingly concrete hypothesis’ and he is looking carefully at the idea of a move to Saudi Arabia, where more than one club has asked for information. He has a €50m clause and Milan could grant a discount, but will not sell him off very cheaply.

Like Bennacer, Adli also has a market in Saudi Arabia where Al-Shabab are watching with interest. Yacine, more than Bennacer, risks being cut out of squad list for Serie A and the Champions League despite having a valuable role in the dressing room.

The idea in Milan’s mind is to collect €50m or a figure close to that from the two sales, which would generate a nice return.

  1. A strange signing. There’s no chance they’re getting €50 million for Bennacer & Adli. Spending in the Saudi league is way down on last season, the highest fee paid so far this season is €9.00. Italian journalists continually embarrass themselves, they didn’t pay attention to what happened and is happening in the EPL either. Most clubs aren’t throwing around crazy money anymore.

    1. Yeah, the English league was relying on Saudi continued spending I think, hence how many terrible investments some of them have made in recent years they’re now stuck with

  2. It’s crazy that a club like Ajax is not doing well financially. Over the last 5 years they have probably sold players for around 750m and at least half of that money came from ManUtd.

    1. It’s a club that makes overall profits which are much, much smaller than the profit it makes on player sales. Remove the player sales and its a club in complete disarray.

Looking at the very low sales this season, they are now seeing the impact of the talent void that Overmars and Van Der Sar leaving has created.

  3. Why do we keep investing in foreign talent when there is young italian talent we could be getting. Luca Lipani at Sassuolo, same profile as Vos, young, talented, DM, affordable !!?? Do we hate Italians that much ??

      1. The same World Cup with powerhouses like Qatar and Panama lol

The issue is Italians are obsessed with foreigners and “experience.”

No reason players like Jorginho and Darmian got called in during the Euros and not Ricci, Gnoto, Orsolini.

      2. @Acm233 BINGOOOOO! DING DING DING! You read my mind there buddy! I’m glad I’m not the only one who also thinks this. Italian Serie A is not what it once was back in 80s to 90s and mid 00s.

    1. This. Is there a reason we didn’t get Bellanova when we needed a RB? He’s much better than Emerson and absolutely torched us last game. Amazing how Atalanta is the only team who signs Italians and at reasonable prices too.

      1. Exactly. Bellanova & Royal bought for roughly the same price but there is no question on which team made the better deal and got the better player. 🙁

      2. Bellanova doesn’t want to come to Milan, he’s a declared Inter fan. Milan also doesn’t want Bellanova since he refused the renewal and left us for free when he was part of Milan’s primavera to go and join Bordeaux

      3. because he’s a WING BACK

        WE DONT PLAY WITH WINGBACKS

Theo already bombs forward like a wingback, Why on earth would you want 2 offensive fullbacks playing at the same time?

      4. Absolutely should have signed Bellanova over Emerson. But it’s pretty Simple why we didn’t. Bellanova cost 22M + 3M in bonus – 25M; while Emerson cost only 15M total.

We always go for the cheaper player – NOT who is better or better suited to our system. #MoneyBall

AND Atalanta didn’t mess around with a 3 month negotiationsof low-ball offers. They moved quickly and decisively- JUST like they did with Samadvić – and took them BOTH. While we sit with our 👍 👍 up our Arse.

        Good times

        Good times.

Redbird just want to save money and not go over that NET transfer spend.

    2. Exactly, we have morons here like acm233 that doesn’t watch any of the youth tournaments so he won’t know that the Italians have dominated. Even the last one where they lost to Spain, Italy completely dominated Spain. Italians have better youth players and it’s showed at national lvl. The problem is they need be played. At 16,17,18 they would already have real game time in other leagues. In Italy age is all that matters so they don’t play.

Then they look at other leagues and say wow that kids already playing so he must be better. Perception is everything but that doesn’t mean it translates. We bought kalulu instead of investing in players like kayode and bellanova(an ex prima player).

  4. Talented talented talented… We need instant impact ,we have so many “talented” 🤡 he couldnt play in ajax and you want us to believe that he will improve us 🤡🤡

  5. We need to promote our Milan futuro, theydid well in pre-season and should be called to the bench. We have over -$650 for the past 10yrs so let’s do business in and off the pitch.

  6. We are more concerned about stocking the Futuro then improving the first team. I wonder why?🤔🤔🤔

I don’t know maybe Redbird are more concerned about RESALE value than actually wining now. Just a thought😂😂😂😂
