Milan secured three important points at the weekend, turning a deficit into a win against Fiorentina. It was important for the standings, but also for the team’s confidence which has taken a hit lately.
As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport this morning (via MilanNews), the look of Milan completely changed when Ismael Bennacer came off the bench. The Algerian, in fact, was stunning during the 30 minutes he got on the pitch.
With his smart passing, the Rossoneri were able to find the gaps in between and the pace of the game increased. The central axis that Stefano Pioli relied on in the first half of the season has thus been restored: Bennacer-Calhanoglu.
The duo looked in good form against Fiorentina and it was a promising sign ahead of what’s to come. With a schedule that is slightly easier than their rivals on paper, they should be able to make some important movements.
