GdS: ‘Flashes of Fonseca’ as Milan show ‘very good signs’ against Monza

In Tuesday’s Silvio Berlusconi trophy fixture, AC Milan beat Monza 3-1 at San Siro, and there are several positives to take from the game with the Serie A season nearly here.

Pre-season is now done, and Milan have a fixture on Saturday to look forward to, and the feeling is that the fans will do just that, look forward to it.

As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, the Rossoneri have had a fantastic pre-season, winning four of five games – drawing the other against Rapid Wien – and there are many positives to speak on, and the latest performance was another example of this.

Paulo Fonseca stepped through the doors of Milanello less than two months ago, but his football is already being implemented, which can be heavily appreciated, especially considering it matches what the Diavolo wanted from their next head coach, and what the Portuguese coach promised.

In Tuesday’s game, two formations were executed, with Fonseca making changes at the interval, and throughout, the Rossoneri dominated – an already pleasing fact – and the ‘flashes of Fonseca’ were very evident.

Alexis Saelemaekers, Noah Okafor and Alvaro Morata all showed positive signs, which could be extended to the rest of the squad. Gazzetta summarises at the end, stating that ‘in general, very good signs from the first outings’, but the real test is Torino on Saturday, where ‘engine revs will rise’.
