GdS: Fonseca to give four talents a chance against Real Madrid – the plan for each

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca will once again rely on youth tonight as AC Milan take on Real Madrid, with opportunities for several players to impress.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fonseca will use the opportunity in Chicago to test out a number of players who are tipped to have an immediate future with Milan Futuro in Serie C but are knocking on the first team door.

Mattia Liberali: The playmaker may lose a few balls but he always tries to make things happen. He has been playing for Milan for almost 10 years, he won the Under 17 European Championship as Francesco Camarda’s partner in crime.

In Vienna, against Rapid, he was a starter, and in New York, against City, he played a portion at the end. At the moment he is a number 10 and not a winger, he needs to improve athletically, but Fonseca sees good signs.

Francesco Camarda: Fonseca has chosen to bring Camarda to Chicago, despite the fact he arrived in the United States two days ago. It is possible that he will play him for about 20 minutes at the end, when in Italy it will be almost 4 in the morning.

Yesterday Carlo Ancelotti answered a question about him in a press conference and said: “Camarda is very promising.” He will play with Milan Futuro next year with a view to the first team after that.

Marco Nasti: Nasti is not so young given he was born in 2003, but he had his 15 minutes of fame in the 3-2 win against City, scoring past Ederson for the winner. Tonight he could play as a starter and face Rudiger.

Last season he scored 7 goals in Serie B in Bari and he has offers from Venezia and Verona but he could return to Serie B. It would be logical at this stage in his career to play more and develop.

Lorenzi Torriani: At 19, he went from being the third goalkeeper for the Primavera to a starter for the first team in one summer. Obviously Mike Maignan will soon be at Milanello and a new goalkeeper will probably arrive after Marco Sportiello’s injury.

However, Torriani won over Fonseca with the way he plays with his feet and in Vienna he made a great save. He has a chance of becoming the third goalkeeper for the first team and tonight he will try thwart the European Champions, the stuff of dreams.

Real Madrid’s gems: Ancelotti will almost certainly start with Endrick and Arda Güler up front who are 37 years old combined. Mbappé, Vinicius and Rodrygo are not with the squad yet, meaning Milan’s defence can breathe a bit of a sigh of relief.

  1. If you think Milan’s defenders in Tomori and Gabbia can breathe a sigh of relief because they’re up against Guler and Endrick you have another thing comin bro. And I even like Gabbia.

    1. I guess he is in well deserved vacay, as Camarda should be.

They say they don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but he is our ‘talisman boy’ and his summer will basically be without a holiday, probably until he gets injured.
