GdS: Fonseca could start Musah and Loftus-Cheek against Napoli – the reason

AC Milan will be up against Napoli on Tuesday after getting more rest than expected, given the Bologna postponement. According to a report, Paulo Fonseca is thinking about adding physicality to the starting XI.

Antonio Conte and his Napoli side have done really well at the start of this season, sitting five points clear at the top as we speak, and it thus won’t be an important game for Milan. As we all know, Conte teams tend to work extremely hard, using physicality to their benefit.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Fonseca is thinking about fielding a more physical starting XI against the Partenoipei. Yunus Musah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are both candidates to start in midfield, and the manager could even field both together.

Not in the tandem as Youssouf Fofana is certain to start there, but Loftus-Cheek could play in the No.10 role with Samuel Chukwueze returning to the bench. It would certainly be a more physical side, but the question is if it’s the right move.

Fonseca still has a few days to decide and another battle he must solve is on the left flank, with Rafael Leao looking to regain his starting spot in the race against Noah Okafor.
