GdS: Four positions Milan are looking to address in the summer mercato

AC Milan need to address various gaps in their squad in the summer transfer window and the positions have already been identified, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about how important it is for Milan to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League because of the €50-60m minimum it brings to the accounts.

Failure to qualify for the Champions League would have a profound impact on what Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara can do in the summer transfer window, such as the ability to permanently sign Brahim Díaz for €20-25m and of course potentially renew Rafael Leao.

As per the paper, the directors are aiming to sign a left-back, a winger, a midfielder with physicality to replace Franck Kessié and a new centre-forward given the inconsistency of Ante Rebic and Divock Origi and the age of Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In terms of the names being followed for the position of striker, Álvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid and João Pedro of Watford are on the list, but the latter seems destined to play in the Premier League next season.

  1. Milan don’t have the money.

Realistically Milan will lose Brahim Diaz. Than Rebic and Origi might be sold, to bring one new name in striker position. Messias and Saelemaekers will stay on right flank with Krunic and De Keteleare on ACM position.

Only difference is Leao departure for bigger money will make impact on mercato and Champions League spot. Without champions league Milan will spend less than last mercato.

  2. These are fans wishlist tbh. In reality, our transfers are based on what upper management have in mind and likely they are not spending or max we get loaned players especially if we don’t qualify for UCL
