GdS: ‘Full speed ahead’ – Milan’s plan after completion of Morata deal

Some have questioned AC Milan’s start to the 2024 summer mercato, but there is nothing to worry about, given the European Championship was taking place. However, the Rossoneri are set to move at pace in the window now the tournament has finished.

Whilst the mercato has officially been open for two weeks, the true mercato has not yet been seen due to the European Championship and Copa America, but with both tournaments completed, the window is expected to get lively quickly, and Milan will play their part in this.

Within hours of the Euro 2024 final, it seemed like a deal for Alvaro Morata was going to be wrapped up shortly, and now, the deal is imminent, with the details of the deal finalised. There is not a plan to stop there, though.

Instead, the Diavolo are planning to attack the mercato, going ‘full speed ahead’ according to this morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below).

The first port of call will be in Austria, and the negotiations with RB Salzburg will be a priority after Morata becomes an officially done deal. A deal with the player has already been agreed, but now, Milan must negotiate with the Austrian club and close a gap.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are ‘circling’ and with Luka Jovic selling the project, there is no choice to be made by the player, but a deal must be concocted with Salzburg soon.

Following the completion of this task, they will then, ideally, finalise the move for Youssouf Fofana, who is also returning from the European Championship, and they could revisit London to re-open talks for Emerson Royal.
