GdS: West Ham loanee Füllkrug will leave Milan but could remain in Serie A

Niclas Füllkrug will leave AC Milan once the loan expires at the end of June, but we might not have seen the last of him in Serie A.

Milan signed Füllkrug as an emergency solution during the January window, having struggled to get their strikers into rhythm. However, instead of reviving the goalscoring, the German struggled too and only found the back of the net once.

The goal came relatively early into his Rossoneri tenure, scoring the winner against Lecce back in January. He had a few contributions after that with some smart flicks, but as said, Milan didn’t get what they wanted from him.

Venezia next?

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), although Füllkrug will leave Milan once the loan expires, he might remain in Serie A. The newly-promoted Venezia have expressed an interest and could open talks with West Ham.

The 33-year-old has two years left on his contract with the Hammers but the feeling is that he could move for a low fee. The buy-out clause that Milan agreed upon is worth around €5m, so Venezia might need to pay close to that to get a deal over the line.

  1. Ok the guy wasn’t exactly a success but he do get some respect from me as he played with a broken toe for a couple of months. That at least shows that he was willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good of the club and obviously he was also trying to get a contract for himself but still if some of our other players had the same mindset as his things might have gone differently for us last season.
    Best of wishes to him.

    1. If they gave him the penalties he’d score as much as Nkunku. He had 2 goals from open play in 1600 minutes. Fullkrug 1 in 650 minutes. He didn’t cost Milan anything, not a big flop.

The guy that cost 40M€ and has the HIGHEST SALARY in Milan is the actual flop. And yet people talk like he did something and he should stay. 😀

      1. To be fair if anything I’d rather have Camarda as second choice and Fullkrug as third choice than having Nkunku in this team so I concour.

  2. We let Jovic go for free who was better than anyone we had in the last 2 years. Fullkrug is a good sub to keep. I don’t understand the plan.
