GdS: Gordon Singer attended Milan-Cagliari – Elliott’s stance on Pioli and the project

By Oliver Fisher -

On Sunday evening Milan faced Cagliari under the eyes of Gordon Singer, the son of the founder of the American fund Elliott Management, a report claims.

As explained by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) this morning, Singer stopped in Milan for a few hours also on Monday having attended the game on Sunday night as the Rossoneri ownership continues to be close to the team. They are hoping to qualify for the Champions League, because the transfer campaign would be of a different kind with the revenue from the UEFA prize money and the higher income from sponsors.

In any case, the confirmation of Stefano Pioli on the bench does not seem to be in doubt as the coach is respected and should not risk his place if he fails to achieve a return to the Champions League. The Elliott fund had planned a slower recovery than Milan, but the team’s extraordinary season obviously made them think that the process could be accelerated.

Unfortunately there were some disappointing results, the last against Cagliari, which prevented the Champions qualification from being already in the clear. However, the owners will not sell the club if it does not reach the targets.
