While waiting to understand who will be the next head coach, the AC Milan management are also working on the signing of a new centre-forward and Serhou Guirassy’s name is back in fashion.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) have provided an update on Milan’s hunt for a new striker, starting with the fact that Benjamin Sesko’s agent was in Milano about ten days ago and met AC Milan to talk about his €70m boy.
How did it go? Good, but the negotiation for Sesko remains complicated. They will meet each other again, but there is the knowledge that the asking price represents a significant hurdle for the Rossoneri to get over.
Meanwhile, Stuttgart are in Italy and took the opportunity to contact Milan. A dialogue, ten days before the start of the mercato and one in which Guirassy was talked about.
He has a €17.5m clause meaning there is no auction on transfer fee, but clubs can negotiate different conditions, particular payment methods and other details.
Five-star signing
The scenario regarding the three attackers that Milan have dealt with the most in recent months is quite clear. Guirassy is the third wheel, the least glamorous name. He is less talked about than Joshua Zirkzee and Sesko, Milan’s favourites, but he has an ally: the calculator.
This season he scored much more than his colleagues and in all the performance rankings he appears among the likes of Haaland, Kane, Lautaro, Dovbyk as one of the best strikers of the season, with 30 goals in the Bundesliga.
The problem is salary. Guirassy knows that after a season like he has had he can ask for a large pay packet, especially given that he knows the club he joins will pay just €17.5m for him. As an example, a €5m net per season salary is easy for Premier League sides to afford, in Serie A it needs reflections.
Zirkzee and Sesko
Milan are playing a game across multiple tables. Zirkzee has been a primary target for months, he costs his €40m clause but Premier League teams – Arsenal above all – and Juventus have made moves for him.
It could well be a big battle, with the variables T and V influencing the equation. T is for Thiago Motta, who can bring him to Turin. V is for Dusan Vlahovic, who in Thiago Motta’s 4-3-3 (with minimal variations) could not play alongside Joshua.
Sesko, on the other hand, seems to have the most complicated situation. He doesn’t have a clause and Leipzig have no desire to sell him. He will end up doing so only when faced with an mega offer, around €70m or more.
The Fonseca factor
Then, after the coach is made official, the choice of No.9 will become the big issue. And Jonathan David, the center forward of Fonseca’s Lille, will surely enter the discussions at Casa Milan.
If the Portuguese moves from the status of great favourite to that of chosen coach, then it is logical that he might look back to a Lille side which got top four this season and thanks largely to Zirkzee’s goals.
Zirkzee, Sesko, Guirassy, David: that appears to be the running order at present. Geoffrey Moncada and co. will have to be wise and know when they need to close quickly.
Anyone else can’t wait for this season to end so we can’t start wading through this bullsh!t and get some actual clarity
We were never in the running for Sesko and Zirkzee
Y’all have to know the kind of players ACM are looking for, don’t deceive yourself.
