GdS: Hojlund wants ‘one-way ticket’ to leave Man Utd and join Milan – the situation

Rasmus Hojlund has ended up at the top of AC Milan’s wish list for No.9 role, and while negotiations with Man Utd are moving forward, the player has made it clear he wants guarantees.

Milan need to reinforce their squad with a striker before the start of the Serie A season next week, currently relying solely on Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican has been in good form this summer, scoring with Mexico and in his only friendly with the Rossoneri, but an alternative is needed.

In that sense, sporting director Igli Tare has evaluated several names in the last few weeks, but a decision has seemingly been made: all-in for Hojlund. This was reported in today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), providing the latest on the negotiations.

Hojlund wants a one-way ticket

In the negotiations between Milan, Man Utd and Hojlund’s entourage in the past few days, the striker has expressed a willingness to join the Rossoneri. Having said that, he has also made it clear that he would like a permanent transfer, or at least a loan that is more or less permanent.

He doesn’t want to end up in a situation where his future is uncertain yet again next summer. As such, he would prefer the flight to Milano to be a one-way ticket. It also means that the Dane expects a buy-out clause of €40m to improve his chances of staying.

Next week will be crucial to understanding the outcome of the story, as the newspaper concludes. Milan have received the initial go-ahead from both Man Utd and the player, but they can’t afford to wait too long, which is why a final agreement must soon be reached.

The alternatives for Milan

Among the alternatives, one of the hot names is Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, once again per Gazzetta dello Sport. The head coach Enzo Maresca made it clear on Friday that the striker will leave the Blues, and he has already been on the Rossoneri’s radar for some time.

Tare spoke with the striker’s agent, Ali Barat, over the weekend in London to take stock of the situation. He, like Hojlund, isn’t a classic penalty-box striker, but he has international experience and a desire to redeem himself.

Other names? Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface has been on the list for a while, as has Dusan Vlahovic, even though he continues to score for Juve (and has a hefty salary). Breel Embolo, who is set to leave Monaco, has been linked several times but he doesn’t excite the management.

Finally, Milan enquired about the costs of Nikola Krstovic a while back but were shown a €30m price tag, including bonuses. Atalanta are also interested in him, but a late attempt by the Rossoneri cannot be ruled out.

    1. He’s big, strong and quick. His finishing seems good. He’s very raw. He has the potential to be a world class striker.

      1. But besides him being young, big, strong, quick with good finishing, technique and a high work rate, what does he has to offer?

    2. Take him for 15-20m and send at Manu our Maignan and will be good. If not only loan have sence because he not good attacker last 3 years

    1. Krstovic lacks football intelligence, as all he does after receiving the ball is look down & shoot. No teamplay, no buildup, no dribbling, no vision.

Not good enough for Milan. 30 million is laughable, he is worth 12 at best.

      1. Krstovic 😂😂😂😂 he not good at all. Danyboy is he your brother or what? 😂😂😂Krstovic for Milan 😂😂😂

      2. That’s is all players like Inzaghi Crespo Gilladino does. Receive the ball in the box area look and shot to score. A typical number 9

    2. As a fellow Montenegrin, I’d love to see him here, but he is the same type of player as Santi. I’d go for Rasmus as he is more physical and has a stronger presence in the box.

  1. we value him at 35M they are close to accepting 40M…

6M loan with obligation to buy if he reaches 15 goals and we finish top 4 for 31-32M… everyone is happy

  2. Yup loan with obligation of certain terms seems like a logical and win win to all parties here. Would love to see Hojlund in our colors.

  3. Hojlund is awful. He can’t use both legs, dribble or from acute angle. Dodi or Sorloth is a better option. He’s first usually lets him down.

  4. Loan with obligation if he can get total 20 goal+ asist combined. It is win2 solution for all party but not more than 35m euro

  5. then it’s easy. if he is as good as he thinks he is, then take the loan with the option and freaking prove you are THAT good. Milan will no doubt make it one way ticket if you score 20+ goals.

  6. Why should he? Everyone seems to be putting this lack of commitment to Milan on Hojland. How about this. If we want him so bad, then commit!!!! a permanent deal or no deal. Hojland is basically saying he doesn’t want to be traded around like a piece of meat. “If you want me so bad Milan, show me!” commit to a permanent deal Milan. Everyone in the forum is putting the commitment on Hojland. This is a two-way relationship. Hojland does not want to end up back at Utd in the wilderness next season. I totally understand him. But I hope something can be worked out. Remember a loan is great deal for us. maybe not so ideal for Hojland. hopefully and agreement can be reached.

    1. AKO JE TOLIKO DOBAR TREBAO BI BIT SIGURAN DA ČE GA MILAN OTKUPIT DOGODINE ,A NE TRAŽIT GARANCIJE !!! ON JE SMEĆE

  7. I’m not a Hojlund fan, but I question why he’s making it difficult for himself at this point? He’s clearly not part of ManUtd plans for the season and risks being benched A LOT.

His agent should be encouraging him to take whatever he can to get playing time. These guys have finite careers and I never understood staying somewhere and banging your head against a closed door to try to break through it …

  8. ZAŠTO JE VLAHOVIĆ SKUP KAD KOŠTA ISTO KAO I HOJRUND ???? Dakle Vlahović 15 mil transfer plata 4 godine 44 mil a Hojrund 45 transfer plus plata 16 mil TO JE POTPUNO ISTI IZNOS ILI JA NEŠTO KRIVO RAČUNAM ČAK JE Hojrund skuplji 2 mil !!!!???????
