GdS: How Berardi has become an option for Milan ahead of January window

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Domenico Berardi many times in the past few years, but just when it looked like the ship had finally sailed a report this morning has suggested a January move is possib.e

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Milan could sign a right winger during the winter window because of the doubt surrounding Samuel Chukwueze, who has so far failed to repay the €20m (plus €8m bonuses) investment.

This is why reflections are underway, because while Christian Pulisic is in excellent form and has been since the start of last season, there is no reliable back-up. Paulo Fonseca would also like a solution off the bench that allows Pulisic moved to the role of attacking midfielder.

The names of Andreas Skov Olsen (Club Brugge), Noa Lang (PSV Eindhoven) and Ismaila Sarr (Crystal Palace) are on the list but we must add that of Berardi too, who has recovered from an injury to his Achilles tendon.

He knows that the last chance to make a big move might well be here after Sassuolo’s relegation to Serie B, and if a club like Milan were to come calling he would not say no. He admitted in an interview recently that the Neroverdi would let him go on a permanent deal or even maybe a loan with obligation.

Thus, for the Rossoneri it could become a convenient operation to add a player in his prime who knows Serie A well, has 122 goals (plus 83 assists) in the Italian top flight, and would help the squad lists by being a homegrown player.

    1. He was bought last season by Chelsea for 35 mil and has a long contract and is doing very well for them and just got his international debut for England.
Do you seriously believe that Chelsea would even sell him for what they paid and do you really believe Milan would entertain a demand of maybe 50+mil for any player.

I could just say that I want us to buy this and that player but if the club wont pay certain fees it would be a completely redundant proposition.

      1. How is he Italian or are you just trying to be funny because he is born in England and could have played for the Nigerian international team but chose England.

        1. Missed your point here you are obviously referring to Berradi I thought you was talking about Madueke my bad. I wouldn’t call him better than Pulisic or Leao though but think Ruben was just regurgitating his love/trolling for Madueke.

    1. Madueke is an piece of crap, why the would want to buy another guy who shooting is even worse than both Leao and Chukwueze. If he was so World breaking why is Nigeria still crap.

  1. It remains to be seen if Berardi will ever be back to his previous form. Remember Spinazola? Achiles tendon issue; was rising as a world-class player. Was never the same after the injury. Became somewhat-good-but-definitely-not-great.

If Berardi can play again like he used to play before the injury, absolutely, yes, he’s someone who would help Milan. But if he can’t, then, forget about him.

  2. Berardi missed like half the season last year, still threw up like 10+ goal contributions. He’s been the undisputed right winger for the last x amount of years. Until Pulisic came ofc. But before that dude has been running the show for quite some time. Not saying we should get him or anything, just throwing out the stats.

  3. I would have prefered Orsolini, but Berardi is a good option.
He is experienced, and scores a lot of goals. The problem though is his age and his health.
But in an ideal scenario, we will have a good winger that knows serie A, that means we can afford to rest Pulisic a bit sometimes or put Pulisic on the left wing, and Berardi on the right wing, thus resting Leao and ditch Chukwueze.

  4. A 30yo coming off an Achilles tear playing in an attacking position is HARD sell…

Maybe give Chuk consistent time and starts to see what he has left in him. move Puli to the 10 – he’d be better than RLC or Abraham anyway.

    Then re-assess.

  5. Get him asap.

His ball delivery skill is beyond everybody in milan.
His deadball situation is waaaay skyrocketed tij+puli+theo combined.

What? He is not the same guy? Nobody is the same guy, except leao. Still a kindergarten boy.
