Since arriving from Chelsea in the summer, Tiemoue Bakayoko has played just 597 minutes for AC Milan and they are unlikely to make use of the option. That is, of course, unless it turns into an obligation.
The midfielder played for the Rossoneri during the 2018/19 season and enjoyed some success, but he wasn’t signed at the end of the loan. Despite getting a second chance, it seems the outcome will be the same now.
Bakayoko’s loan runs until the summer of 2023 but as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport, he could return to Chelsea early if this were to continue (the lack of playing time). Having said that, the option to buy in his contract is purely an option right now.
Some have suggested that the reason for the lack of playing time is the contract terms, as a certain amount of performances would turn the €15m option into an obligation. The report states that won’t be the case until next season, though, when at least 15 games of 45 minutes or more would result in that.
That means that his exclusion in the last month and a half is a purely technical choice by Pioli, and therefore the early termination of his loan is possible too.

It’s not a possibility it’s a must to terminate
I cannot believe they are still thinking about Bakayoko and 15 million euro?
Please common sense is needed
Obviously, no one is thinking about signing him for 15M, it doesn’t even say that anywhere. But he is there as a backup until the end of season. ??? 😀
A curse.
Terminated.
