GdS: How Milan could line-up if they sign three January targets

By Ben Dixon -

It is already well known that AC Milan will be active in the January mercato. As such, predictions regarding how Milan may line up have already started to be formed.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed that the Rossoneri are lining up three deals to reignite their Scudetto charge. Firstly, they will finalise the deal for Juan Miranda – the Real Betis full-back. Next, they plan to add Jacob Kiwior and Jonathan David to the squad – both of whom the club have had a long-standing interest in signing.

Given Theo Hernandez has become a bit of a revelation at centre-back, the signing of Miranda offers Stefano Pioli cover should he choose to play the Frenchman centrally. Alternatively, should the Italian wish to rest his starting left-back, Miranda is a more than capable option instead of being forced to use a right-back on their opposite side.

The Rossoneri’s biggest hindrance this season has been their depth, or lack of it, in central defence. As such, adding Jacob Kiwior to their ranks not only strengthens their depth but also strengthens their starting defensive structure.

The Polish international has over 150 appearances across the Premier League, European competitions, and arguably most importantly, Serie A.

Finally, on the initial list of proposed additions is Jonathan David. A Canadian international and Ligue 1 winner with Lille, above all, a dynamic, entertaining goalscorer. Which is only made better by the fact he is only 23.

Whilst he may join as an understudy to Olivier Giroud originally, it is not out of the question that he will compete with the Frenchman and Luka Jovic for the starting shirt. After all, he has the credentials to cause Pioli a selection headache.

  1. Ouedrago will be Loftus cheek deputy, but Pioli evaluate this system use Noah as chukwueze then pulisic for leao then musah will play substitute to bench rejnder because benercer is the king of midfield so he will play full time

  2. We should buy High Towering Striker with speed as a bonus like Thuram, David its only 180 just like jovic, with Maignan direct longball its very important to have towering ST to keep the ball, and pass it to more creative player

  3. Not going to happen.

First, Arteta like Kiwior. Second Tomiyasu is injured and they have thin backup at LB and Kiwior can play there in his system.

  4. Haha, like Jonathan David is going to leave Lille for anything less than a crazy, crazy high price in January. An under pressure English club like Chelsea or Tottenham maybe, but he is not going to Milan in January for sure

  5. Football has become too much of buying and selling of players, is it the only way of improving the way a team plays? Who is benefiting from all these transfers? Are the fans benefiting in any way, is it improving the game, is it still exciting?
