GdS: First choice attack, midfield changes – how Milan should line up vs. Lecce

Stefano Pioli intends to use the best possible attack tomorrow against Lecce at San Siro with the aim of continuing the momentum built over recent weeks.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Pioli can put his best forwards out there again, namely Olivier Giroud, Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic, the numbers 9, 10 and 11.

There are no distractions in view of the two Europa League legs against Roma. The league game before the first leg tomorrow offers the possibility of securing second place and Milan do not want to let it slip away.

Goals are needed and for this reason Pioli chooses to rely on his starting attack. The surprise is Giroud and not so much because of the missed chances against Fiorentina but because it seems like a game where he could be rested.

He will start tomorrow, in the two European rounds and undoubtedly in the derby on April 22nd. In all likelihood these are the last few games of his time at Milan, and he wants to go out with a bang.

Until the end, Oli will also be a point of reference for all his team-mates, including Luka Jovic. The Serbian will watch him from the bench tomorrow too, ready to come on and change the game if needed.

Pulisic is back as well. He will be there against Lecce and will also be one of the pillars of the future. Against Fiorentina he initially withdrew due to fatigue: during the international break he traveled to the USA and played 210 minutes in two matches, 120′ and then 90′ against Jamaica and Mexico to captain the CONCACAF Nations League.

For once Samuel Chukwueze’s performances meant that the American was not missed. Tomorrow he is back and the trident will be completed by Leao, a player who has found consistency in his performance levels, is a constant danger for his opponents and works hard for his team-mates.

Pioli will be without the suspended Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and it is possible that he will rest Ismael Bennacer too. Yacine Adli and Yunus Musah would enter in their place, with Tijjani Reijnders.
