GdS: How Milan could line up under Fonseca’s guidance with four signings

AC Milan’s pre-season will officially begin tomorrow and as many fans will have noticed, they are yet to make a signing. Reinforcements are expected, though, and there could be as many as four of them for the starting eleven.

The centre-forward position remains the priority for Milan and Alvaro Morata now appears to be in pole position. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the case and the Spaniard’s response is expected soon, with the Rossoneri ready to pay the release clause.

As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Morata is not the only target as Milan also have their eyes on Red Bull Salzburg’s Strahinja Pavlovic, Tottenham’s Emerson Royal and Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.

In short, four signings could arrive for the starting eleven and it could look like the graphic below, with Fonseca expected to sue the 4-2-3-1 or the 4-3-3 formation. Of course, anything can happen on the mercato but at least Emerson Royal, Fofana and Morata appear to be concrete options.

The pre-season will begin tomorrow, as said, and Fonseca will rely on Lorenzo Colombo as well as Francesco Camarda for the No.9 role. Luka Jovic is currently on vacation due to the Euros but should be back soon.

  1. 4th place if lucky with injuries. Buying pavlo fortifies the defense then royal undoes that. Fofana brings nothing new and neither does Morata.

I get a feeling fonseca is gonna be set up to fail just like Giampaolo was

    1. That’s why he was brought – he won’t make a fuss about it. So the plan for the Mercato was obvious from the beginning and they needed Ibra to go in front of people talk blah blah to make fans believe and buy the season tickets ( which are way higher prices than last years )

  2. Ffs Ruben is no playmaker, Pioli’s genius put him there and he failed, he’s a box to box playing on right side preferably, no more could be asked from him. I’d put Pulisic there and Chuku on right wing

  3. If Morata is the only attacker we are getting after weeks of waiting, then, the management is not serious. They went for Zirkzee because they wanted a striker for the long run, so, why Morata – a cheap buy? They have spent weeks negotiating for Zirkzee and Emerson Royal. They will likely lose out on Zirkzee, and, bring in Royal, that is an average player. This transfer window is not bringing the fans joy at all. Firstly, they are bringing in an average coach, and going for average players, in key positions. I don’t think there’s really much to expect next season, with what we are seeing.

  4. If we are so keen on French players and we want an AM because RLC isn’t one, why we don’t ask for Griezmann. He is not that expensive, his salary is around 7 and he can provide experiences.

  5. With Fofana and Reijnders, you still need another starter quality CM. RLC is good as a competition but not as starter… you can’t sell Bennacer and not replace him properly, Fofana is Kessie replacement, Reijnders was Tonali’s, now we need another one: Rabiot, Ederson, Locatelli, Kovacic, De Paul, Laimer…

Why Morata when there is Jonathan David for 25M?

Why Emerson when there is Kayode for 25M, they have Pobega interest so you it to get Pobega+12-13M deal done.

Get Bove or Ricci to develop alongside Adli and Musah.

Get Kiwior for 15-20M, since Arsenal is getting Calafiori.

We can even try Bonaventura for free as a joker!
