GdS: Signing No.8 imminent as Milan agree €18-20m deal – how Pioli will use Musah

AC Milan are set to seal their eighth signing of the summer transfer window with Yunus Musah expected to arrive next week, a report claims.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes how Milan are operating in a different time zone to the rest of Serie A, and not just because they are over on the west side of the USA.

While the rest of their rivals struggle to get deals over the line, Milan are about to announce their eighth summer signing as Musah is one step away from becoming a Rossoneri player.

Milan and Valencia have come very close in the last 48 hours and the handshake is imminent. A verbal agreement has been found, now it’s a matter of agreeing on the last details and proceeding with sending the offer, the approval and then the signatures after the exchanging documents.

The cost will be close to €20m and it is possible that Milan will close the operation at €18m plus bonuses. Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada have decided to focus on another young talent after Tijjani Reijnders, Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze.

With the arrival of the USA international, Milan will go past €100m in guaranteed spending and with the bonuses it reaches around €130m. The mathematical exercise is simple: by subtracting the €70m received by Newcastle for Tonali, we arrive at an important investment and now some sales are needed.

For Pioli, Musah is seen as a mezzala in a 4-3-3 or as one of the double pivot in a 4-2-3-1. His best quality, if it is necessary to choose one, is dribbling forward with the ball thanks to his strength and acceleration.

In the defensive phase, however, he can be very useful for recovering balls, intercepting, reading plays and allowing Milan to run in transition.

The field will tell all but the list of signings is very interesting: Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Reijnders, Okafor, Chukwueze and now Musah, plus Sportiello and Romero taken on a free. Enough to make Milan the most curious laboratory in Italy and beyond.
