GdS: Ibrahimovic ‘annoyed’ with Conte rumours amid ‘great respect’ for Pioli

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly set his sights on Antonio Conte for next season, as Stefano Pioli could leave AC Milan in the summer. However, the Swede is not happy with the recent rumours, as a report states.

The Conte-Milan rumours have become more insistent in the last few weeks, and almost all of the reports have named Ibrahimovic as the man behind the move. As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), however, the Swede is annoyed with these rumours.

So much so that, in a comment to the newspaper, Ibrahimovic responded to the rumours: “He is our coach, and we are happy with him”. Sources close to the 42-year-old state that he hasn’t been in contact with Conte since 2016, labelling the recent rumours as pure gossip.

In addition to this aspect, Ibrahimovic also has ‘great respect’ for Pioli after the journey they made together to bring Milan back. It’s not just a simple player-manager relationship, with the two working closely together for many years.

As the newspaper concludes, anything can happen in the summer but Pioli is Milan’s coach for now, and Ibrahimovic is not in advanced talks with Conte. That’s also why the Swede decided to clarify the situation, no longer just a player of the team but rather an Advisor to RedBird.
