GdS: Ibrahimovic closes in on AC Milan return – Maldini and Boban’s new offer

By Oliver Fisher -

Contacts have intensified between AC Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic since Sunday, a report claims, with ‘great optimism’ that he will now return.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday, talks have accelerated over the last 24 hours and it is hoped that Ibrahimovic will finally make his decision.

The 5-0 defeat in Bergamo against Atalanta did not deter the Swede, but on the contrary it may have fuelled him to want to come back to Milan.

The paper claims that Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban have personally contacted Zlatan without the mediation of the agent Raiola. The economic offer on the table remains the same, but the latest conversations have comforted the attacker on the duration of the contract: it is a six-month deal which will be extended if he hits a certain number of goals.

The Rossoneri now expect a quick response from the 38-year-old after having been made to wait for a while, and it is expected that his answer will come in the next few hours.

If everything goes to plan, Zlatan will be at Milanello on December 30th when the team resumes training. However, he will take at least three weeks to reach peak condition again.
