GdS: Ibrahimovic gears up for his return at the right time as Giroud stops for Covid

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were dealt some bad news yesterday as Olivier Giroud has tested positive for Covid-19, but it certainly not all doom and gloom.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that the Frenchman will be forced to remain indoors for at least ten days, and he will keep testing hoping for a negative result. It is not ideal for Stefano Pioli, who will have wanted all hands on deck before facing Lazio, Liverpool and Juventus in the week after the break.

However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s condition is fact getting better and better, and yesterday he carried out a second consecutive training session with the squad. With Giroud at Pioli’s disposal, Ibra could have recovered more calmly, while in this way he could be forced to work overtime right away.

It will be difficult for Ibrahimovic to start immediately and it is more likely that he will be on the bench against Lazio, coming on for a portion of the match, so the responsibility of leading the line could fall upon Rebic, Leao or Pellegri against the capital club.
