GdS: Ibrahimovic has Liverpool in his sights after making full recovery from surgery

By Oliver Fisher -

The wait is almost over for Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the striker is gearing up for a return after the international break, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport takes a look at the situation in Milan’s centre-forward department and acknowledges that Pioli is juggling things a bit at the moment, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned from a long stop, Olivier Giroud is struggling with Covid and Pietro Pellegri has yet to reach an optimal condition.

The positive news though is that Ibrahimovic is almost ready to return. Clinically the Swede has been fine for days now and is back training with the rest of the squad at Milanello, but now it about going from being medically fit to match fit, with Liverpool ‘in the sights’ as per the headline.

Tomorrow the team will resume training at Milanello after 48 hours of rest and for Zlatan these will be decisive days. On the one hand there is the desire not to rush his recovery and risk further problems, but on the other hand there is urgency given the games against Lazio, Liverpool and Juventus after the break.

His last match dates back to May 9, in Turin against Juve, and it could be that things come full circle and that is his last start.
